Virginia GC is the oldest in the Brisbane area and one of the most highly-ranked. The first nine holes debuted in 1929, while the second nine was opened in September of 1933. The third nine around 1959 or 1960. Two Virginia Golf Club members have won the Australian Amateur Championship — Jack Raynor in 1955 and Andrew Buckle in 2001.
