Tom Doak's architecture firm (Renaissance Golf Design) designed this course, which opened in 1997 and runs over 320 acres of southern Indiana landscape. The name comes from the eponymous birds native to this area, while the course itself reminds of Shinnecock Hills on Long Island. True to Doak's "originalist" style of design, this is a hybrid links-parkland blend of design without many artificial contrivances.
For such a highly-regarded course, the standard walking rates here are surprising affordable: $22 on weekdays, $32 on weekends and holidays (carts are $16). Sliding twilight, 9-hole, senior, military, and first-responder discounts are also offered.
