Pirongia is an easy-walking course at the foot of Mt Pirongia. On one boundary is the historic Waipa River and on the other, State Highway 39 which connects Ngaruawahia and Otorohanga. The course is lined with a mixture of native and exotic trees. Many tui and a few kereru are resident for much of the year, and kaka appear for several weeks late in the season.
