This parkland-style course is located just south of the North Sea resort town of Hornsea. The course dates to 1908 and a design by 1902 Open champion Alex "Sandy" Herd, although Dr. Alister Mackenzie oversaw changes to the greens in 1912. Five-time Open champion and prolific architect James Braid made alterations to the bunkers in 1925. Currently, architect Howard Swan is drawing up a new master plan for the course.
