The club as an entity was formed in 1907 and has persevered through two world wars, seizure of the land containing the first two courses, and even construction of the M60 motorway. The current course debuted in 1999.
Visitors are welcome; the standard walking rates are £18 on weekdays, £20 on weekends and bank holidays (carts are £18). Guest-of-member rates are available, as are memberships.

Played today with 3 friends and we were all very disappointed. The course was wet, and we appreciate this happens after a downpour, but we played on tees made from the rough, some temp greens which just had flags in holes somewhere easy to put, and found the general state of the course to be very average. Scruffy, and messy. That said the greens we played on were the best bit. Shame as we played last year and enjoyed.
