This private club opened in May of 1929 with what is now the East Course with an initial design by Shiro Akaboshi and Kinya Fujita, but it was later redesigned by the British architect Charles Hugh Alison. While the terrain is flat, the course is extremely challenging, in part because of the 129 bunkers on the course.
The shorter 18-hole West Course debuted in June of 1932 with a design by architect Seiichi Inoue.
The Japanese Olympic Committee announced in September of 2013 that Kasumigaseki CC will host the 2020 Olympic golf competition.
