This parkland course dates to 1912, although a couple of redesigns have taken place. In 1923, J.H. Taylor and Frederick George Hawtree undertook a redesign that introduced bunkers to the course; even with an interruption during World War II, the course has been maintained to that 1923 design.
Visitors are welcome; the standard walking rates are £30/round or £40/day on weekdays, then £35 on weekends and holidays after 3:00 p.m. Cart rentals are £20/round or £30/day. Junior and guest-of-member rates are available. Societies are also welcome with prior arrangement.
