Belfairs Golf Course was opened in 1923 as a nine hole course, while the club was founded in 1926 to coincide with the opening of the 18-hole course. The legendary Harry S. Colt did a partial redesign of the course at that time. The club is located in Southend-on-Sea, which was historically part of Essex.
