This semi-private club opened in 1910 with a design by a prominent architect of the era, W. Herbert Fowler. The course places from 5,648 to 6,482 yards and is a mature parkland-style layout. The clubhouse includes dining and meeting facilities, while an 18-hole putting green and a chipping green are available.

Visitors are welcome, although advance booking is recommended. The peak-season walking rates are £60 weekdays and £70 weekends, while the winter rate is £50. Rates for twilight, county card, and playing as the guest of a member are lower. Societies are also welcome with advance arrangement, while memberships are also offered.
