This hotel and golf resort is located just south of the B6528, outside Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Two courses are here, the Colt Course (named for Harry S. Colt) being the most popular. The Colt debuted in 2004 and was designed with some of Colt's famous designs in mind, namely Sunningdale, Wentworth, and Swinley Forest, amongst others. Hotel guests pay £75 to play the Colt, while visitors play £100 and only with prior arrangement.
The Filly course reopened in 2007 following a renovation. Since the greens were built to the USGA's tri-layer specifications, the course is open to play all-year at £35 during the summer and £30 during the off-season.

Close House was a nicely manicured course, the bunkers are the best I've played, the back 9 meanders through the scenery. Front 9 are presented nicely but bland. £110 a round isn't cheap but it is a luxury venue
