Henley Golf Club opened in 1907 with nine holes, while the second nine opened in 1908. James Braid had won the Open Championship four times by the time he drew up the actual design for the course here; he won it once more before concluding his competitive career.
Some minor changes have occurred over the years; #11 changed in 1964 due to increased road traffic, while 3, 9, 10, and 18 were slightly rerouted due to safety concerns. An irrigation system was installed in 2004.
Visitors and societies are welcome on weekdays, while guests of members are permitted on weekends. The visitor walking rate is £45 for 18 holes before 4 p.m. and £55 all day weekdays. After 4 p.m., the walking rate is £25.
