Thorpeness is regarded as one of the finest coastal heathland golf courses in Britain, and one of the best golf courses in Suffolk. Golfers play a course winding through heather, gorse, pine and silver birch trees, hit from firm quick drying soil with rare birdsong in their ears and the tang of sea salt in the air.
This course is co-located with the Hotel Suffolk next to Thorpeness Meare, not far from the Suffolk coast. Visitors are welcome, although advance booking is highly recommended.

Plays very fast as the course drains very well. Stopping the ball on the greens was really tough so play short and roll the ball onto the greens if you can. Great views when walking down the 18th fairway of the house in the clouds by the 18th Green.

I recently stayed at the hotel and played two rounds over a weekend. The first partly in heavy rain and the second in a strong wind. Stay on the fairways and keep out of the gorse and heather. Think about your tee shot as a driver may not be the best club on all the par fours. Excellent greens.. Enjoy ...
