This downland-style course offers excellent views of Guildford Cathedral, the Wembley Arch, and central London. The club was founded in 1886 on the North Downs at Merrow, then extended to 18 holes in 1901. Notable architect J.H. Taylor oversaw the first formal redesign ofthe course in 1925, then in 1995, modern-day architect Howard Swan was retained to do some restoration and design updates.

The standard visitor walking rates are £70/round or £90/day on weekdays, then £70/round on weekends after 2:30 p.m., subject to availability. Sliding twilight, associate, county card-holder, and guest-of-member discounts are available, as are memberships. Societies are also welcome with prior arrangement.
