Jack Nicklaus designed the Keowee Falls course, which was named one of the top 50 best new courses of 2008 by Golfweek magazine. The design of the course included what they describe as the "largest stream restoration in South Carolina history," as well as a waterfall on Falls Creek. Architect Troy Vincent and Green Tee Golf completed a renovation of the course in August, 2014.

The course is owned and operated by the Cliffs Communities, a series of planned residential areas.
