Carved out of the rugged, pristine wilderness of Newfoundland, The Wilds at Salmonier River is arguably the most challenging 18-hole championship course in the province. Each hole has a distinctive character of its own with elevated tees, greens and undulating fairways interspersed with natural wetlands, brooks, and ponds that make this golf experience not only pleasing to the eye, but testing and fun even for the low handicapper.The wilderness layout of the course is further enhanced with the variety of wildlife that inhabit the course. Moose can often be seen wandering along the fairways while eagles and hawks soar overhead. In addition, the nearby Salmonier River is renowned for its wild Atlantic Salmon.In the midst of this natural wonderland, The Wilds at Salmonier River offers a 40-room full-service hotel that offers gourmet cuisine and bar facilities. There are also 18 self-contained cabins that offer the comfort and conveniences to satisfy the most discerning of golf tourists.Located on the scenic Irish Loop, getting to the course is an easy 45-minute drive from St. John?s. Simply take the Trans Canada Highway to exit 35, and then take route 90 (Salmonier Line) for 15 km.
