Located about a 20-minute drive from downtown Houston, The Battleground at Deer Park is a public course located near the site of the Battle of San Jacinto, fought on April 21, 1836. Each of the 18 holes here is named after an historical event tied to that battle. Full practice facilities include three practice holes — a par-3, a par-4, and a par-5. Also on-site is the Republic Grill.
The standard non-resident fees (with ½-cart) are $39 on weekdays, $48 on weekends and holidays. Resident, twilight, junior, and senior rates are available, as are memberships.

It's winter, so I don't expect perfection, but the greens were not as good as I was hoping. Other than that, the course was in very good shape and the people were nice. The round took 4.5 hours and we were waiting on every shot on every hole and we had people behind us doing the same. For the $30 price I paid on GolfNow, I'd say it was definitely worth the money, though.
